Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić (1874 – 1938), the granddaughter of the Croatian ban and poet, Ivan Mažuranić, succeeded in this, when she entered the Brlić family from Brod upon her marriage, and through the marriage of her daughter Nada, also into the Ružić family from Rijeka. This is the type of merit due to life and destiny, but what is definitely Ivana’s credit is the awareness of belonging and that everything what is her private business is also of public interest, i.e. national – Croatian. In this sense, it is to be hoped that the still unresolved issues of the status and functioning of the memorial treasure in Slavonski Brod, with the Brlić House as its backbone, will not in any way threaten the material, and even less the symbolic capital created by the name of this great woman, writer and proud Croat.

Keywords: Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić, Brlić Family Archive, Brlić Family Library, Brlić House, symbolic capital

[122

post-1786","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-plenary-lectures
["GET
